Floating Floor

I want to install a really nice home theater... What is the best way to float the floor and install the walls?

Floating floors are not hard to install, they each fit into one another. Just measure and cut. Not sure what you mean by the best way to install the walls.. do you mean soundproofing?

Check out www.soundproofing.org. It's an ugly site, but it has lots of information on how to build a soundproof space. You should be able to attach your walls onto your floating floor normally. http://www.auralex.com/ has a product that you can use to float the floors with.

It is a LOT of work but is well worth it, IMO.

I laid one inch strips on 6inch centers and filled the gas with insulation panels. Laid the plywood over that, quickstep membrane, maple flooring, done.

Just make sure you do not attach anything to the floor that will undo all your hard work. Here is a link that I think will get you started.

Pictures of the floor can be found below.
