Meniscus SW-1084 enclosure size?

Hello all,

Here's the specs on Meniscus Audio's SW-1084 10" subwoofer driver:

SW-1084

Fs: 20
Qts: 0.36
Vas: 84.0
Xmax: 16.0
SPL: 87.0

Under recommended enclosure size, they indicate "20S-45V" liters. However, just messing around with the ported.xls spreadsheet from the diysubwoofers.org site, it seems like putting it in a larger (e.g. 2.5-3.0 ft^3) vented enclosure (around 21 Hz tune) would work very well.

Is there any reason *not* to put a driver in an enclosure larger than the one suggested?

Thanks!

A lot of times manufacturers will suggest enclosures for reasons beyond sound quality. These could include enclosure size, availability of parts (6" diameter ports, etc.) or different preferred tunings (high system Q, etc.). Why not call them up and ask?
