IR Remote behind Cabinet

I've built a nice cabinet with wood doors that houses my DVD Player. The great thing is I've got a nice clean look to my home theater. The bad thing is my IR remotes won't work with anything behind the doors...

Does anyone know of a solution for this? I'm hoping there is an IR extender of some sort - like an IR wire that I can put in front of the DVD IR and then snake out the top of the cabinet grommit that will then receive the IR signal from the remote and send it down to the DVD player.

Anyone ever heard of such a thing out on the market? Do other folks have their components stashed away in cabinets? How do you deal with the IR issue?

Thanks,
Baer

Google search for IR extender or IR repeater.

For single components it can be as simple as a wired bug on the unit and the extended eye outside the cabinet.
For more complex multi systems or for multi room there are distribution boxes available.

Niles is one manufacturer, Leviton, etc.
You can get kits from Crutchfield and Parts Express.

Here's a look at what's out there for a start:

Radio Shack also sells a version of the PowerMid product on the above site and you might also want to look at partsexpress.com and hometechsolutions.com and similar sites.
