Sony receiver repair, help and advice

A co-worker has a dead Sony STR-SE591 and I told her I would take a look at it; I'm no electronics expert but I can find and repair simple problems occasionally. The unit will not power up. It is getting power to the main transformer but there is no continuity between the two wires going into it indicating to me a bad transformer. Where can I get a transformer? And does anyone know any other good forums about electronics repair?

I dont know that a DC transformer will necessarily have any continuity between the contacts and really stuff like this should be left for the experts. If it were yours then it would be another story but if you spend his/her money and still cannot get it working then you wasted money and time.

The odds are is that its not worth fixing anyways.
