Does anyone know of good soundproofing material for finished houses?
my house was made mid 1950's and my home theatre set up is in the basement, and i can hear the sound in the room above. what im looking to do is put something on top of the drywall/wood stairs to dampen the sound.
if someone has a solution that would help me out greatly
-thanks
Cam

Thanks for the help guys, unfortunatly i cant blow holes in the walls. what i was really thinking of was some sort of mat that can be fastened to the wall as u see in movie theatres or in sound rooms.

What you’re seeing there is acoustical treatment to "deaden" the room by eliminating reflections. That has nothing to do with soundproofing.
