I'm planning to modify the 250W PE amp mod, adding 2db to 20-24hz region. 1 question, I bought the 2 resistors from radio shack, 47k ohms and 220k ohms. I didn't know that the 220k ohms from RS is 1/2watt. According to PE instruction, it said 1/4watt. Is it matter if I use 220k ohms 1/2watt resistor? Thanks in advanced. I have everything here and ready to go. Just want to confirm this be4 I take the amp apart. Thanks.

Al,

Edit: BTW, it's the 250W PE amp part# 300-794.

The 1/2W resistor should handle more power than the 1/4W resistor, so you should be okay with using the 1/2W resistor.

update: I did the mod on Sunday. Recalibrated everything. I got about a 4db gain from 20hz-24hz (100db to 102db) compared to before (96db to 98db). The mod is fairly simple, just that for the first timer, I have to be extra carefull when I took out the amp. I've soldered the resistors in the back using 47k ohms/ 220k ohms at R26/R27. According to the Mod instruction from PE, those two resistors are supposed to give me a 2db gain in 20hz-24hz region. Somehow I got 4db gain, maybe because I move the sub a couple inches and I also change the wiring from 16ga speaker wire to 12ga speaker wire. So far so good, I need to re-measure my FR to see if there's any big chances. I'm going to watch I Robot now to see how it sounds. Thanks HTF, I did learn alot from you guys.
