I have used them both and I must say that I was more impresse with the Tempest. While the Titanic does have more linear xmax it seemed to reach its mechanical limits very easily and very often. The tempest on the other hand was much harder to bottom out. I would suggest going with the tempest.

As for the amp, the PE 250w plate amp is a tried and ture unit. I have also personally used it and have never experianced any problems. PE is also one of the best customer service experiances I have had.

Thanks Chris, what about going with more power somewhere around 340w? Would this be more suited for a tempest in a roughly 9^3 box tuned around 17hz or would this be too much power?

I ran both the tempest and the titanic with the same 400wrms. there really seemed to be very little difference between the drivers. they are very close in performance. I just preferred the Tempest becuase it bottomed out less. that size of enclosure for the tempest would be excelent and with that tunning freq you would get a ton of spl.

People have had great success with the Dayton 15" Series II. It's even half the cost as well!

Chris

Where the enclosers the same for each driver, or different, and how so???
Size and tuning of each??

This could make a big difference on the Titanic bottoming earlier, or more often the the Tempest, especialy with that power.

If box size is not a matter, then the Temest might be the better/cheaper choice.

And budget wise, The Dayton that Mitch mentions is a good deal tho it may not serve your particular usage. Definitely worth a look tho! Cheap!

I think it's somewhat idiotik that people keep putting the "k" on the end of terms, instead of the proper "c". The proper spelling is Titanic. The same thing holds for "Isobaric".
