Choosing a plate amp Q re auto on/off

I have decided to build a Tempset based sub and am trying to choose a suitable amp, The various Parts Express and similar 250 Watt amps seem to crop up everywhere but I would like to consider something a little better as I can't hear the product until after I have finished building. I like the description of the PE 500 Watt amp but my question is whether the auto on/ off "feature" is actually desirable or will it cause more problems? And is it comparable to the Hypex 200 in real world performance (RMS@ 8Ohms?)

It doesn’t take a high quality, sonically-pure amp to power a sub. The main criterion is power. Many people here use cheap, high-powered pro audio amps for their subs that can sound rather gritty when used for the mains, but work just fine for the subs.

What do you mean, “more” problems? An auto on/off feature merely shuts off the amplifier when there is a prolonged absence of a signal. It has no affect on sound quality, if that’s what you’re worried about.

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll go for it. I was worried that the auto shut off would do just that, but when a signal does arrive (after the off period) that it would not be ready to receive the signal. I guess that scenario isn't going to happen too often.
