Setting up Sub

I just purchased a Dayton #300-760 10" Titanic Subwoofer System Vance Dickason.

I have Athena F2's and the center channel and some old bose for the surrounds. My receiver is the HK 230.

What is the best way to hook up my sub to everything

I have never done this before... Im actually putting together the sub tonight.

I purchased this cable, but am not sure it is what I need, I can always return it:

connect your sub to the purple subwoofer pre-out in the lower LEFT corner of the back of the receiver. some may disagree, but i'd set all those speakers up as SMALL in the receiver's menus (w/an 80Hz xover if you have the ability to adjust that). if the sub has an "unfiltered" input or a xover bypass setting, use that. otherwise set the sub's xover to it's maximum allowable setting.

okay, and then where do I plug it in on the back of my sub?I have Line In and Out (L and R) and the High Level Speaker connections...

I noticed that, but I knew what you meant. Does it matter if I put it in the Left or Right Line-In?

use the right (personal preference, don't really think it matters).

in SOME cases, SOME people find that their sub doesn't "wake-up" properly if they run it in it's "auto-on" mode. in SOME instances, splitting the subwoofer signal with a Y-adapter to allow connecting to both the l+r inputs can remedy this (it also boosts the sub input signal a few dBs, something that imo, generally, is undesirable in the overall scheme of things).
