Resilient channel and in-ceiling speakers?

Would the use of resilient channels in the ceiling negatively affect the sound quality of in-ceiling speakers mounted in the same ceiling?

Dan, no it just decouples the ceiling from the joists above. But I always build "boxes" behind the in-ceiling speaker to help with the lower frequencies, just a thought.

Thanks Erik. Paradigm recommends placing 'loose' insulation behind and on either side of the speaker. How do you build 'boxes' for the speaker and what material?

Dan, just frame inbetween the joists so that you have about a 12x12" box and sheet with plywood...then fill that with a bit of insulation as well and you'll be solid! Make sense?

So you don't worry about sealing the box then? Since the sheetrock is decoupled from the joists and the speakers are mounted to the sheetrock then sealing the box would work against the resilient channel.

You can seal the box if you want to...just depends. I just ran in-ceiling speakers for all-house audio..and was not too concerned with fidelity, but if these are your main speakers for listening enjoyment...then I'd probably seal the boxes as well, for that would also improve on performance.

But I doubt that will hinder the R-channel performanc.
