Thank you ThomasW

Hello,
I want to thank Thomas for the idea of using the Nerf Football in my subwoofer port. The sub is a 142.5l 21hz tuned Shiva. I was experiencing extreme port noise at <30hz. Found out after plugging the port, that I had a leak at the port/endcap transition. The weather stripping that I used rolled on me during installation. Needless to say, there was extreme amounts of air passing at the junction. Now after retesting, I am satisfied. I did like the way the sealed 142.5l sounded. Maybe I will whip out a new endcap.

Speaking of sealed, what are the benefits of having a larger volume versus a smaller volume in regards to sound quality or subjective sound quality? I realize the frequency response curve changes, but with room gain and EQ, does it really matter?

Thanks again,
Russ

Thanks,
Russell

Actually thank Patrick Sun, I stole the idea from him

Larger box = lower tuning, marginally higher efficiency, lower "Q", etc, etc. Most people think larger boxes sound better, and that infinitely big boxes sound best.....
