Construction & AcousticPrinciples in HT Design

I'm a relative newcomer to HT Design and was looking for reference material on the construction and accoustic principles needed to design a Home Theater. I've unsuccessfully searched the forum for this information. I've gotten material from Dennis Erskine, but I'd prefer to keep it a DYI project for cost and personal satisfaction considerations. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A good reference book for acoustics is the "Handbook of Acoustics" by F. Alton Everest. A more in-depth text is "Acoustics" by Leo Beranek.

Construction is a much broader topic. You might start with your local library or Home Depot. Lots of "how to" books.

And of course, surfing the archives of this forum will yield many hints. I think there have been a number of "what I would have done differently" threads.

As your design progresses (you are planning a detailed design before breaking ground, aren't you ) feel free to ask detailed questions here and you should get great feedback.

Have fun!
