Projector Wiring Question

My father-in-law has decided to build a dedicated HT room in his basement. The room is 17'x22' and is unfinished. He is going to put one platform 17' x 5' at the rear of the room. The platform will be close to 12" high.

He is going to buy a projector and screen for this room but that is at least a year away. He is leaning toward a 16x9 aspect ratio screen that is 110" to 120" wide. Since the projector is so far in the future we are going to run PVC from the equipment rack to where the projector will be so that wires can be easily run. But there in lies the problem. He has not chosen a projector, therefore, we don't know the correct throw distance, which means we don't know where to run the PVC to. Does anyone have any insight as to where the PVC should be placed for an unknown projector?

The only problem with prewiring for a projector of unknown origin is that you won't know what kind of throw you need to plan for. Maybe the best thing to do would be look at a number of projectors and find a happy medium for the distance from the screen and route to near that point.

Instead of installing conduit, can you install a soffit inside the ceiling that will run the entire length of the ceiling? This way, no matter where you install the PJ, you'll have a cavity to run wires through.

Just a thought, if you were going to install the PVC and cover it over with the ceiling anyway you could just run it the entire length. You could easily access and cut into it where you need to later.
