my ht, what should I do?

I have a 12 x 15 room to put my ht in. the washer dryer is in there too, but only sticks out about 12" into the room I will have the room built around them. what should I do to make the room very sound efficent and sound resistant to the apartment on the other side of the wall? also, what's some thoughts on the colors to use? im going to be putting a front projector in there later but for now, it's just a crt tv for now.....thanks for the information.....what should I do for difusers and stuff?

Steve,

Just a few thoughts...

For sound from the wash room; after the wall is built line the entire interior of the wash room with acoustical ceiling tiles. Cheap way to cut the noise.

For your HT room; there are a few different ways to go on this part. GOM fabric and batting on the upper half of the walls, and absorsive material on the lower half of the walls. Also, carpet on all walls. Lastly, paint only.

Colors; thats a personal call. For a pure HT setting, you would want darker colors on the walls and ceiling. Some folks use their HTs for sitting rooms or reading rooms and find the darker colors not to their liking.

ok, heres what I plan to do, over stuff insulation in the walls, no need for insualting purposes, run cork up and down all studs, screw on my gyproc to that, i have been talking with my home theater specialist and good friend and he said that they were using resilant channels in one place and the thing starting resonating. so this is a better solution. then just paint the walls. for now. later I can update some of the stuff. first I want to get in the room!....seal off all wall plates and stuff too...with sound proof caulk....should work good.

im getting the sanyo plv-z1 projector after xmas so that will make a big difference to the look of the place....

ok, im in my house now, and have the drywall on the theater, I am going to take pics now, and make a website for my HT. I am using t bar celling with 2 ft tiles, with a bunch of little squares in them. for the walls, im just having a medium gray color with black carpet. the dryer/washer room, I will cover with acustical tiles as well. I have all wires ran in wall so it's very clean in the theater. no theater seating as of yet. but it might come. depending on what I decide. I will seal off the door with a weater strip on the bottom and seal off the sides with weather strip too. I have touch control of my lighting, just touch the pad, and the lights soft dim then out, very cool controller. Im so excited right now, i want it done. I have just purchased a psb subzero from my friend and theater specialist that he won and never used. should work good for a small room like mine. I will link to my pics as soon as I get them up!.....

peace people!

I will keep updateing this until I get my site up and running then update there!......
