Mounting issues! Need help ASAP!

HELP! I was planning on ceiling mounting my TV3 but the ceiling (I just discovered) is sheet rock with a good bit of space above. My stud finder came up empty. Can the sheet rock hold it? What kind of screws should I use (I am an idiot and am very clueless).
Help me please I want to watch the Pats today at 3pm!!

Don't rely on the sheetrock to hold a TV. It won't. Maybe it's worth cutting a small hole in the ceiling to locate a framing member? You could make a very small hole and use a coat hanger to probe the space and find it.

What is in the room above, the attic? If so, you might have to climb up there and locate a good beam you can use.
