Filling holes in MDF

I was planning on just using Elmers wood putty, but I noticed on another thread someone mentioned body filler, what do you guys recommend for making my mdf all pretty and smooth?

visible defects are best filled with bondo from an auto parts store. For the microscopic defects, primer then sanding. Check that the primer and the finish paint is compatible on a scrap.

I used Zar brand wood putty. It dries quickly and sands perfectly.
