Will the problem cause noticeable defects? It depends on:
- How big the TV is (larger display makes defects more visible)
- Are you pushing Component, Progressive, HD video
- How close to 75 ohms the existing RCA plugs and the barrel-connector will be.
These are all variables. Can you do a test run to see?
A better solution: find a local HT store that does custom installs. Speak to the wireing guy and see if he will cut the ends off your cables and install BNC connectors. These are a more professional connection, it has a twist-lock feature and maintains the 75 ohm impedence.
The best solution: order a custom cable for the correct length. A 25 foot run will cost you about $100. Considering that a 12 ft Monster CV300 cable is $220 - you save.
