Shouldn’t be a problem I placed several objects in and around the port while playing test tones at very loud levels, and not even my fist in the 8" port made any real difference. Of course there are many more thing’s to consider and it may not work at all, which is why I will test it first. Also I have a few backup ideas to streamline this mechanism if needed. But in the end if any of this degrades the sonic qualities in any way I simply affix the Valve unobtrusively and skip the adjustable idea altogether.
I pretty sure this will work though, the port is very large and my velocity is about 15m/s, so as long as everything is properly dampened and headed into the wind (so to speak) then I'm pretty sure none of the mechanism will make any audible problems.
I'll post back what happens during the real life test.
