Here are the pictures... if you are on a dial-up you may need to select low res

Image 1 - low res | high res

Thanks, Joel for posting my pics! I plan on finishing them with either a birdseye maple if I can find some within the next few days on e-bay. If not, I have some plain maple as well as figured walnut veneer on the way. We'll see when the stuff gets here. As for sound, I can honestly say that these speakers have the best sounding midrange I have EVER heard. Simply breathtaking. I found myself listening to Beethoven last night. Four songs straight through. I'm 25 years old, I don't listen to that kind of music! There was something about the sound that entranced me. The soundstage was huge not just left to right, but from front to back. Subtle nuances are easily heard and highs are absolutely wonderful, but with a hint of brightness, which I'm sure will disappear in time. As for bass, I built these hoping that the port placement low to the ground would increase bass response due to floor coupling. I have never heard the 1801B's so I can't say if there will be a difference. Based on acoustics there should be though. I do notice a little shyness in the bass region as stated by everyone who owns or listened to these, but I haven't done any port tuning yet so I could get a bit more out of them. I can state that I'll take a liquid midrange over bass any day having heard what GREAT midrange sounds like. My roommate stated the same thing as did my girlfriend. Honestly, these are so good so far that I posted my Paradigm 80's for sale last night. I'm gonna take that money and get another amp and build another set of these speakers. Good listening!

It's good to hear you like their sound! As you state, they will sound even better once they have a few hours on them and they settle down a bit.

The sound is amazing and hopefully if my veneer gets here soon, they'll look amazing also. Do you also have a pair of these? If not, what are you running right now?

I agree that Seas driver is a looker. Here are some modified 1801's with veneer.

Undersized sealed 1801

Focal driver? That's a Seas W18 or are they the same thing? I'm assuming you're using a sub with these? Which one? Really pretty.
