Well, I hate filling these PVC stands with sand first of all, but...

I was tightening the bolts which hold the endcaps on and then I hear a loud popping sound... so, a few minutes later I finally notice it had completely popped off the 3/8" of MDF between the PVC and the hole I drilled...

so much for having a 1/4" recess for PVC to lay in... seems like it severely weakened the area which I was applying pressure to

That very example is why I only use 19" of MDF and only 2 " of PVC

actually...I try to use 1.5" of MDF on the base
