Component cables good for audio?

I'm soon going to be upgrading my DVD>TV component cables as I feel the ones I have are not good enough. So I wondered if my old component cable can be used for sound. Its a relatively cheap one (6ft $20), but I figure that if it works its gonna be better and thicker than some of the real cheap stereo RCA cables I'm using. Anyone tried this or read about doing it?

They should work fine.

The rule is:

All video cables must be made with 75 ohm coax.

There is no such rule for audio interconnects.

Many audio interconnects are made with 50 ohm coax, but many L/R/Video bundles all use 75 ohm.
