A/V Furniture?

I've outgrown my Ikea A/v stand in more than one way, and am now trying to find a good quality component stand that serves it's purpose both in form and more importantly in function.

I've looked at pieces from BDI most recently that appeal to me visually, however wonder if they are worth their weight in gold.

I need at least 6 shelves with a minimum usable depth of 17" and would like the overall height to not exceed 50"+/-.

The models I am considering:

BDI Vector 9522 (6 shelf tower)
BDI Ventura 7026 (7 shelf tower)

Does anyone have either of these that can comment on build quality, resonance and aesthetics? Any other suggestions?

Thanks, just doing a little research before shelling out $500-800 for shelves.

Peace,
Aristides

There are many other Audio Specific racks besides Bello and
many are even more elegant than Bello. Some of the other
companies to check out would be Finite Elemente`, Solid-Tech
, Salamander, Sanus, Lovan, Atlantis, Atacama, Billy Bags,
Bright Star and Vantage Point.

Also have you considered building your own? Some of these
larger racks (5-8 shelves)can run into the thousands of
dollars. Needless to say in my opinion these are very
exorbatant prices to say the very least. I am working on
my own 3 leg rack with 8 shelves that is a copy of the
Finite Elemente` Spider which sells for $1600.00 and my
rack will cost roughly $250.00 to build and will actually
be more solid in construction than the Spider.

Just an option..

Update and Question:

I found the BDI racks that I mentioned in my previous post for significantly less $$, and also a Bello rack that is an option (AT-484), however I'm wondering if any one here has dealt with this retailer: www.racksandstands.com.

I contacted Soundcity, whom I've dealt with before, to see if they could match price and said that there is no way anyone can offer racks at those prices.

Any advice or previous dealings?

EDIT: UPDATE: I contacted Bello directly to inquire about authorized dealers, they have dealt with racksandstands.com before and said they are a good retailer and have had no problems to date.

I ended up ordering the Sanus NF206m (6 shelf rack in maple) from their site for $150 less than anywhere else I could find.

Thanks,
Aristides

Last update...I promise.

I ordered a Sanus audio rack from racksandstands.com and was extremely impressed with the quality of service provided. They offered free 3-day shipping on the item and it was received in just two days, well packaged and without damage, and at a great price!

If looking for any A/V furniture I recommend giving these guys a fair shot.

4 and 1/2 hours later and I'm almost finished reconnecting everything!

Peace,
Aristides
