I am considering a corner shaped flexy. Was wondering if anyone had any expierience with this? Anything I need to watch out for ?

Cool idea. Are you going with a quarter-circle, or a triangle?

If you plan on putting it in the corner then perhaps you should think of other designs. Corners are the high pressure regions of bass in rooms, and putting equiptment in high pressure regions may not be wise.

Of course I have no proof that this is a drawback, it's just using common sense.

I think a triangle shaped flexy could work if you make it big enough. It won't have as much stability issues as 4 legged flexys.

Well I was originally thinking of a triangle. But now I'm going to have to consider the quater circle...hhmmnnnn


As far as corner location and bass. This is a secondary system in the living room I don't think that is an issue for this system and it's locaation.

I think the quarter circle would give you a larger footprint to play with, without taking up too much more usable room space than the triangle.

Chris is right though. Put something bass-heavy on and stick your head in the corner where you plan to put the rack. There probably will be a ton of low-frequency pressure there. If it's not a big deal, though, then go for it!

What's the big concern regarding low-frequency SPL's? We're talking about a flexy rack, right?

Are you afraid the flexy might rattle? Use urethane or rubber cushioning washers and you should be fine.

Are you afraid the components on the rack might rattle? Hard to imagine. If you're really worried you could just try placing a component on a table in the corner and crank up Toy Story 2.

Are you worried about the electronic devices? The silicon chips go through much higher stresses during packaging and board mounting.
