Wanted to mention that I viewed the first half of the movie "Independence Day" on Blu-ray yesterday afternoon. Couldn't finish it because of interruptions.
IMHO, I was very impressed with the transfer and so far this has been the best transfer I have seen of this film to date. I was especially impressed with the dynamics of the sound.
Still can't decode DTS HD 5.1 Master Lossless Audio from the disc, but the core sounds as thrillingly

dynamic as I remember it being when viewed on July 4, 1996, opening day at my local cinema.
The clarity of the film (PQ) and 1080P resolution was great! The film looks new, and on a 110" screen, the young looking cast is a marvelous site.

What I'm having trouble with is remembering the softness of just a couple of minor scenes where I would love to compare to the theater print to see if this is a native softness so I will
know if it is the directors true intent or a bad segment. Most of the movie that I viewed was superbly sharp, including CGI scenes.
