Circuit City's peace offering: 100% player refund (store credit)

Circuit City

Quote:
Update: We have made an adjustment to our return policy for HD DVD players. See question 7 below for details.

7. I bought a first generation HD DVD player. Can I get a refund?

Toshiba is not currently planning to make refunds available to early adopters of the hardware.

If you purchased a Toshiba HD DVD player from Circuit City in the last 90 days, you can return the player to your local store to receive your purchase amount back in the form of a Circuit City store credit. This credit can be applied to the purchase of a Blu-ray player, or any other merchandise. This policy extension applies only to players, and does not extend to HD DVD movies or Xbox drives.

Wow, I thought BB's peace offering was cool, but this is really big for those who've purchased within the 90 days.

What's Amazon going to do for me? I wants my 'bribe' as an early adopter to keep purchasing there!

I think BB deal is much better. You get a $50 gift card and get to keep the player and it's not limited to a 90 day window. Heck, you don't even have to do anything, they'll search their database and send you out a gift card.

With CC, you have to return the player. What are you gonna do with your HD DVD discs then? From what I understand they aren't allowing those to be returned. Also, in CCs original announcement, they say you have to have the box and all the packing contents. I would imagine that includes the UPC code that probably 99% of the people who bought the players cut out.

Of course, ANY gesture is nice since I don't think we are owed a thing.
