Are On Demand movies in HD likely to get a Blu-Ray release?

The reason I ask is because currently Fright Night is offered in HD from my On Demand video service. When I noticed it, I got chills. I love this movie, and it deserves another release in high definition. Sony(Columbia) owns it, so it seems like a no brainer, after all it's already remastered in HD, how hard would it be to just slap it on a Blu Ray disc, and sell it?

Not on dvd yet...what a crime!

Even if it was OAR, the master is probably not 1080p and therefore not good enough for Blu-Ray. Sony has been selling a lot of their films to HDNet Movies, Universal HD, and Mojo, but I think they may be from older masters. I am convinced that is the case with Guess Who's Coming To Dinner after seeing the screenshots of the 40th Anniversary DVD on DVD Beaver.

What is your on-demand service, and what other movies do they have?

Comcast digital cable service. On Demand is fantastic. I have been watching classic tv(Fantasy Island, Different Strokes) as well, commercial free, and at my leisure. Fright Night is offered through Fearnet(a horror only movie channel). Other than that, There are many movies and tv shows offered in HD each week!

While we use it for the kids shows, I have been underwhelmed by the quality of HD they offer. Usually only two channel audio and a lot of compression artifacts.

No Signature...How boring is that!
