For the most part, I tend to aim for <$20 on catalog titles and <$25 on new releases (multi-disc catalog titles, like CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and BLADE RUNNER being understandable exceptions, back when they first hit the market). I don't want to get into the mentality of "I won't pay more than $10-$15 for any Blu-ray" because a) my collection would grow at 1/3 its current rate and b) I would like to help the format to get a foothold in the market and succeed--I don't see the studios' and manufacturers' incentive if they can only move new product at such a miniscule price point.

Because of this, I received the following credits back to my credit card this afternoon:
GATTACA: $1
DOGMA: $1
I, ROBOT: $2
BONNIE AND CLYDE: $1
NINE INCH NAILS: BESIDE YOU IN TIME: $1
THE 6TH DAY: $1
That put a little hop back in my step!

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!
Future Shop has begun dropping the prices on HD DVDs, including some Warner catalogue titles. Link here: Future Shop
FWIW, I got Casablanca, The Omega Man and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut for $12.99 each.

Oh, I didn't mean to suggest I'd only be willing to spend $10-15 on a title -- under ~$20 would be ok enough in most cases (and there are plenty of those from various studios, especially Sony and also some from Disney/BV and Warner). I was just saying that most of the ones I've bought so far have fallen in that range (after whatever discounts, rebates, deals, etc) probably due in part to the fact that I didn't jump in until late Dec -- and had just been catching up w/ purchases while there also haven't been quite that many new releases of interest since then. And yeah, I bought titles like the Blade Runner set as a new release at the regular new release price -- in fact, that was the title that got me to take the plunge.
Anyway, yeah, I also agree w/ your point that we should consider upping our price tolerance a bit wherever we're comfortable so as to help move the format along for long term success. However, at least for myself, I find the $20 mark to be reasonable enough (and comfortable enough in most cases) for the forseeable future although that will likely mean no new Fox/MGM titles in the meantime unless there's some special deal (like B2G1) going on or Fox/MGM finally decides to cut their standard pricing down a notch or two...

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!
I'm pretty much keeping it under $15. Then again, I have no problem buying secondhand discs.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!
