I'll take 'em both if they pay me $39.99.

If watching Con Air and Next had any benefit at all, it was learning that blind-buying Nicholas Cage movies is a very bad idea. I will rent these first regardless of the deal they dangle in front of me.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

Maybe it's just me (it usually is! ) but $40 for the two BDs of the NT movies doesn't seem like a screamin' good deal. I realize we are talking about two new releases here....but, I would figure those would probably be two likely candidates for a Target BOGO for $30 (similar to what they ran last week).

Of course, I'm only a mild fan of the first NT film. Didn't see the second (which is why I'm furious they didn't include the Goofy HT short on the release!). Maybe I'd feel differently if the circumstances were different!

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Don't get me wrong here Mike am just a little puzzled why you feel $20 a peice for two HD movies is not a good deal? Now to be honest I can not say that if the second movie is worth getting or not? As I have not even seen the movie so I am just wondering if I want it based on the fact that I have not seen it. Now the first National Treasure I will definantly purchase the day it is available. But the second movie might be a roll of the dice but it should be worth $20. I have a feeling the DVD will be at least 19.99 for National Treasure 2.

I dunno, Dave. I think you pretty much got the answer right in your question. I guess I feel that way, mostly, because I'm not a HUGE fan of the films (Mild fan of first one. Haven't seen second one.) It's an okay deal for fans of the films. Just not a "screamin' good deal" (whatever the heck that means!). To me it just seems like there'll be better deals not too far down the road on those BDs.

I might even be persuaded to pick 'em up at 2/$30!

===================================

For a little closure's sake: I got my BD of I Am Legend today...3-24-08. Just as predicted by the powers-that-be at amazon.com!

The order was placed 3-15. I Am Legend was released on 3-18. I used Super Saver Shipping. Not complaining. Just finishing our earlier discussion.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

i dont see this as a super deal either.

i just felt luke warm on it.

i like the first one but didnt feel an urge to own oth for $40.

for $30 or maye even $35 i might have bought.

i dont need to spend the extra on a movie i'm not sure about.

Re: Consolidated HD Bargain Thread!

OK just to be clear, I don't think it is a "super deal" either (maybe no one does?), but it is not bad for a new release and a new to Blu. And the great thing about ordering from Amazon is that if the deal gets better before release or even 30 days after, you will end up with the better deal (after an e-mail). If the somewhere else has a better offer or if I decide to be patient and wait for a "super deal," I will just cancel. The 2/$30 Target deals that some mentioned aren't much better than this for me. No tax, no shipping, no running to the store hoping they have in stock what I want, etc.
