Yep, they wanted my old disc, and i had to go buy the mailer envelope to put it in. All they sent was the label, to pay the postage, and the generic form telling me to send the disc, AND the case. I only sent the disc, as the e mail said not to send anything else but the disc. Course the e mail also said they would send an envelope as well as the postage label, and they didnt.

Strange. I wonder why they want some to send the disc back and not others?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue
I can only assume at some point they must have thought some people might try to get a free movie out of the deal. I am not quite sure. They have alot of conflicting information. As long as i get a corrected disc i will be happy.

I know for a fact that's the reason. At least according to the management of the customer service in charge of sending out the discs. I just got off the phone with them.
I called in to make a complaint, as their customer service has really been lacking on this issue. It's been over a month and I'm no closer to getting a replacement. Anyway, I asked if there was any way around this whole "send in the original disc" thing and I was told they absolutely could not. They changed their policy on this because she said people weren't sending in their discs and were taking advantage of the situation.
I think they just messed up. How many people in this thread have stated they didn't have to send in a disc, they received one regardless? Well, apparently, they expected people to send the original upon receiving their replacement. But nobody is doing that.
I don't think it's people being dishonest so much as Disney's not making it clear that they wanted people to send in the original disc after the fact. They just didn't tell many (if any) of these people to send them back at all. So now they want the original mis-framed disc FIRST, not after a replacement has shipped.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue
Finally got my mailing label today. Will go out on Monday, and hopefully I'll get my new disc soon.
BTW at what time does the misframing happen again. I'd like to do a quick A/B with my SD version before I send the disc off.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue
It's basically the scene where Captain Jack and Will Turner are sword fighting for the first time in the place Will does all his smithing, and they jump around on the beams, so on and so forth. Just before Jack gets caught for the first time. For the whole scene the top of the picture is cut off. There are some shots where Will or Jack's heads are completely cut off.
The original thread about the issue:

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Framing Issue
I got my replacement disc yesterday. Didn't have to send in the original disc at all. Overall time took just over a month due to the Christmas holidays.
Thanks Disney.

No they obviously changed their policy somewhere in this process.
I was one of the people with the speedy turnaround and when I asked the CSR I spoke with what to do with the old disc once I got the new one (thinking I'd have to return it to them, which if I were them is what I'd make everyone do) I was told to just throw it out, they didn't want it. I also didn't get a return mailer with the new disc so I don't know how they would expect it to be sent back.
Knowing that there always a large group of asswipes out there that'll take advantage of situations like this (in this case to get a free BD) they may have gotten replacement requests that exceed their sales figures.

The note that I got with my replacement also said that there was no need to return the original disc.
