ps3: pixar and pirates and 2.01

As with a couple of others, my PS3 is not entirely happy with Pirates:AWE, but the 24/off "fix" allows me to view the film and disc 2. However i called to let Disney know of the problem since it appeared to be closely related to the PIXAR shorts problem.

The techinicans (nice people) stated that the problem with the PIXAR shorts should have been "cured" with the 2.01 update in November. My shorts "problem" has not been solved with this up date....just wondering if it has helped others with this problem. Thanks.

bob i dont understand your post.
what is the pixar problem and what is the pirates problem?

and what is 24/off and how could a problem from the pixar disc cause trouble for the pirates disc.

Re: ps3: pixar and pirates and 2.01

Hummmm...let's see if i can be a bit clearer... (but beware of run on sentences!!!) The PIXAR SHORT problem is not "caused" by PIRATES: AWE...or vice versa.

But they do seem to be related: i, along with others, have found that using the PS3, and the HDMI setting at automatic 24 under the blu disc settings, (when using the optical out because i don't have an HDMI amp), causes the program to stop right after the previews and legal stuff. We can't play the feature movie. However setting the HDMI 24 from auto to off, in many cases, allows us to watch the movie.

Hope that is a bit clearer...but it is not really necessary for you to totaly comprehend...if yours are playing correctly....or i think my post would have made sense to you in the first place. Changing the 24 from Auto to Off is a "fix" offered when i contacted Disney's 800 number. Some others have found that by fast forwarding through the enitre previews and FBI warnings that they are able to play the programs.

i was told the 2.01 up-date fixed the problem with the PIXAR SHORTS, but not the PIRATES: AWE. However, even with the 2.01 up-date, the problem still remains with my PS3 and the PIXAR SHORTS.

Hope that explains it...!!
