Warner lets some of the Q4 releases out of the bag, including some surprises.....

A lot of these were expected, but there are some surprises on there as well, such as Burton's Batman (which looks to be HD-DVD only - IME features I presume?), Batman Anime (might be the rumored anime "prequel" to The Dark Knight that bridges the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight), the theatrical cut of Superman II, SUperman: Doomsday, Twister (w/ cover art) etc. It also lists The Departed: Special Edition separately from the standard version that's out now - are they double dipping it already?

A bit disappointed that there are so few (almost none) pre-1965 classics.
OTOH, I'm glad to see Justice League: The (New) Frontier listed.
Also a bit baffled by the inclusion of The Cincinatti Kid. The other two Steve McQueen movies, both arguably more popular than TCK, were poor sellers. It seems odd that Warner would go back to the well on another McQueen title, when there are a bunch of other classics (and stars) that seem more ripe for exploitation. I know I would be more excited about something like East Of Eden or Rebel Without a Cause...or a especially a new transfer of Giant. Just seems odd to me.

A few of these do look a good ways off though, so I guess the list doens't mean all that much at the moment.

ya beat me by a minute Nick

hopefully the mods can merge that post into this thread.
as I said in that thread though, I don't think all that many of these are going to see a Q4 release.
I think its apparent that Dark Knight is at least 13 months off, and some of these other titles are also still in production or likely to be tied into movies still in production.

The Goonies!!!

Some other good titles on that list. Glad to see some animated features on there as well. Gives me hope of seeing Looney Tunes sooner rather than later.

Blu-ray & HD DVD - It's all about the movies!

L. A. Confidential was rumored awhile back but it's a GREAT list. I'll tell you that I am THRILLED to get Eraser. For me, it's Arnold's last great one. I know some here really like The 6th Day or whatever it's called but Eraser was classic Arnold. Bad Ass and carrying big daddy guns. And we never got any SE disc for Eraser. Just the first 1997 issue with "jump to a scene" features.

Thanks for sharing this!

Seeing Heat on that list brings warm feelings to my heart. That is the one movie I have ever really wanted -- nay, NEEDED on HD-DVD.

How did I miss that? That really is a great list. I may have to get another job just for that list.

Re: Warner lets some of the Q4 releases out of the bag, including some surprises.....

I hope Paul doesn't mind, but I took the list he made and made some tweaks to it.

Listed on Warner's website for both formats unless otherwise noted:

10,000 B.C.
The Adventures of Robin Hood (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Appleseed Ex Machina
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
August Rush
The Aviator
Batman (1989) (HD-DVD only)
Batman Begins (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Batman Anime
Bonnie and Clyde
The Brave One
The Bucket List
Caddyshack (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Casablanca (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
The Cincinnati Kid
Clash of the Titans
Complete Matrix Trilogy (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Constantine (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Cool Hand Luke
The Dark Knight
The Dead Pool
Dirty Harry
The Dukes of Hazzard - Unrated (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
The Enforcer
Eraser (HD-DVD only)
The Exorcist (HD-DVD only)
Falling Down
The Feast of Love
Fool's Gold (2008)
Fred Claus
Friends: The Complete First Season
Get Smart (2008)
The Goonies
Grand Prix (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
The Green Mile (HD-DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Obviously being planned, but there's not even a film yet!)
Heat (HD-DVD only)
I Am Legend
In the Valley of Elah
The Invasion
Justice League: The New Frontier
L.A. Confidential
A Little Princess (1995) (Blu-ray only)
Magnum Force
The Matrix films (Sold separately - both formats)
The Matrix Online Game Card (?????)
Men
Michael Clayton
Mutiny on the Bounty (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Natural Born Killers
Nights in Rodanthe
No Reservations
One Missed Call
Perfect Storm (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
Poltergeist
Poseidon (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
The Promise (HD-DVD only)
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (HD-DVD only)
The Shawshank Redemption (HD-DVD only)
Smallville: The Complete First Season
Speed Racer (2008 film?)
Spring Breakdown
Sudden Impact
Superman Doomsday
Superman II (Theatrical) (HD-DVD only)
Taking Lives - Unrated
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
That's Entertainment
That's Entertainment 2
That's Entertainment 3
That's Entertainment Trilogy Giftset
Twister
The Ultimate Matrix Trilogy (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
V for Vendetta (Blu-ray - already out on HD-DVD)
The West Wing: The Complete Seventh Season
Whiteout
The Wizard of Oz

Now, some of these are obviously listed because they have been in plans for a while (The Shawshank Redemption on the insert ads, anyone?), while others are complete surprises to me.

Hopefully, the several HD-DVD exclusive (and one Blu-ray exclusive) titles are only listed as such due to how the info is on the website. I mean, I see no reason why The Shawshank Redemption or A Little Princess would be exclusive either way.

Personally speaking, at the very least I'll be getting the following releases on Blu-ray:

The Adventures of Robin Hood
The Aviator
Batman Begins
Bonnie and Clyde
Casablanca
