Unrealistic expectations???

Is it too much to ask to expect the same wait time for HD DVD that I would have for standard DVD at Blockbuster online? I currently have 25 HD movies in my queue and only 5 are "AVAILABLE". It seems to me if there is such a wait for these movies that they need to buy more copies to meet the demand (relatively speaking of course).

Netflix has worked very well for me, the only exception being the first 3 or 4 weeks after the release of a popular/major title. But I've noticed the same problem with some standard DVD's as well.

If your local store has them, just order whatever online and then go into the store to exchange it for what you want. I have done this MANY times now. Gets me the movie I want in a week or even on launch if I time it right - Even new high-grossing films.

Re: Unrealistic expectations???

It's purely regional but I know others have had issues with Blockbuster as opposed to netflix in regards to availability.

You'd think they would order more discs to meet the increasing demand.

My thoughts exactly.

This is helpful info. I totally understand having to wait for a popular new release, but not for older and/or run of the mill movies. I'll have to switch to Netflix if I don't see any improvement soon. I sent an e-mail to Blockbuster CS...hopefully others will do the same.

I've also had better luck with Netflix. I must say however that I do like the interface on Blockbuster on line because you can tell which version of a particular film you are renting. You can tell if its the old standard version or the new 2 disc special edition.

Re: Unrealistic expectations???

No it is not unrealistic. Nor is it not unrealistic for you to expect them to update your queue in a timely fashion when using the in-store return option

But as I've issued many a public tirade on this subject I will save everyone and simply say that Netflix is the better way to go. I've tried Blockbuster twice and they've failed miserably both times. If it wasn't for the fact that it was free, I wouldn't have even bothered the second time.

Sure Netflix may have some wait time, but at least they give you the option of adding new releases to your queue, are available when they are listed as such, and ship them in order.
