It would be nice is Disney owned up to this problem. They have certainly had enough time to verify the problem and make corrections. As far as POTC 3, I doubt I would waste my money on that turkey even if they fixed the framing issue on POTC.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray has wrong framing!!!
I think it'd important to note that they haven't denied the problem, either. There's simply no way Disney would say they are in the wrong without having everything set up and ready to roll on fixing it. If they came out and said "We know it's wrong but need another 4 months to address the problem" it would simply tick people off.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray has wrong framing!!!
I've been holding off on purchasing these two titles in the hopes that come December they'll announce a 3-pack of all the movies, which includes a fixed movie #1.
However, I've also been hearing of a buy one get one free promo next week that includes both of these titles. It may cause me to cave in and get them both anyway.
I guess I can justify it by the logic that if I ever have to buy a replacement fixed copy, I can just say, "Hey, I got the original for free anyway"?
Am I a complete whipping boy of the studios, or what?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray has wrong framing!!!
I know how much some of you love The Digital Bits these days, but they have proved to be a valuable resource in getting these kind of corrections made in the past. I have sent a follow-up e-mail to Bill Hunt asking if there's been any progress made on this front. I will let you know if I receive a response.

Well with the bits involved I trust that Mr Hunt will at least get us some sort of response. Might not be good but we can count on not being ignored.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray has wrong framing!!!
I did get a quick reply from Bill saying that he was under the impression an exchange program was in the works, but that he would see if he could get an update from Disney today. With the amount of e-mail he must receive, I'm always astounded at the quick turnaround times I get from him.

More than they are already? I doubt it. Their silence is telling, and that is not good.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray has wrong framing!!!
I broke down and bought this today, I just couldn't wait. It's the only one of the trilogy I'll own, the other two were horrible. Hopefully a replacement program happens but at least I don't have to wait to watch it anymore.

Better to have only those "in the know" ticked off than to have a press release and inform others that they should also be ticked off.
Even better to make an announcement saying that they have an exchange program ready to go.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray has wrong framing!!!
Count me in as someone who believes that this situation needs to be addressed. Universal paved the way with their mea culpa with BTTF. It ain't that hard. 'Fess up, offer a free replacement, customers will forgive.
