The Omega Man (Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD)
According to High Def Digest, Warner Bros. will release The Omega Man on Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD on November 27.

Unfortunately, this sounds like a bare-bones, cash-grab aimed at capitalizing on the new Will Smith movie I Am Legend. Given the lack of attention this release is receiving, and the fact that this film didn't really do Richard Matheson's novella justice in my eyes, I will probably pass on this one even though I really want to show the studios there is support for older films in HD. I am torn!

Re: The Omega Man (Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD)
Thanks Paul for the heads-up.
The Omega Man has always been a guilty pleasure of mine and as long as Warner keeps on giving decent 1080P transfers, it will be a definite purchase.
Second rate transfers to HD like Universal delivered recently with "What Dreams May Come" will be frowned on and ignored.

Re: The Omega Man (Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD)
Its not the book, but its a fun 70s flick. Shoot the DVD is good enough that i can see cars driving by on the highway as Heston is driving through a dead city.
November will be expensive for me, but its a title id have interest in.

Very nice! Too bad that those 2 featurettes from the older DVDs are not included..and no new ones. Missed opportunity for sure.

I've always enjoyed this movie, and would love to have a BD version, but I'll have to decide if it's worth that price with no extras.

Re: The Omega Man (Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD)
Another 70s Sci-fi flick where Heston dies at the end!!!!
Planet of the Apes...
Beneath the Planet of the Apes...
Soylent Green
Gotta love 70s sci-fi!
Okay he doesn't die at the end of apes...
Doug
Never heard of spoilers, Doug? (And your Soylent Green quote is inaccurate). - CA

Or releases like Dr. Strange from Lionsgate, or Arlington Road from Sony, or Out for justice and Purple Rain from Warner.
I will hold off judgement on this release until it is actually released .

Yep. this is one of my favs from my youth. Certainly not a great (or for that matter, a good) film, but it will hold a place in my collection. Can't wait.

lol Yeah, Doug, what movie were you watching? Perhaps you were thinking of the Tim Burton remake, which was a near-death experience for myself.
