Second Dual-Format/Single-Sided HD DVD announced
From an announcement from Bandai Visual:

Not to be confused with double-sided HD DVD/DVD combo discs, twin-format discs can contain up to three layers of recorded content on a single-sided disc. Like 'Freedom: 1,' 'Freedom: 2' will use two of those layers -- a 15GB HD DVD layer, and a 4.6GB standard-def DVD layer. High-Def Story

Now here's hoping for a dual layer HD/single layer SD twin format in the near future. This would eliminate 50% (double sided complaints) of the negativity surrounding Combos.

IMO: Here´s hoping that these "combos" and "dual format"-discs would disappear altogether.. (sorry, just my opinion)

Here's hoping Bandai eventually realizes that Americans just will not pay the extortionate prices they somehow get away with charging in Japan. $40 for 20-odd minutes of anime is just not happening here, and I really want to see Freedom!
Jay's Movie Blog - A movie-viewing diary.
Transplanted Life: Sci-fi soap opera about a man placed in a new body, updated two or three times a week.
Trading Post Inn - Another gender-bending soap, with different collaborators writing different points of view.
"What? Since when was this an energy ball movie?" - Overheard during a screening of Takashi Miike's Dead Or Alive
"What the hell religion are you people?" - Overheard during the Captain Marvel serial at SF/29
"If I feel even one bullet hit me, I will rip your lungs out through your nostrils!" - Ron Silver as himself, "Heat Vision And Jack"

Can't disagree on the price. 2 bucks per min. is just a bit high.

There not. Dual format disks would eliminate the only issue I have with combos; dual-sided.
