WHV Press Release: Alexander Revisited (HD-DVD,Blu-Ray)

ACADEMY AWARD® WINNING DIRECTOR OLIVER STONE’S EPIC STORY FINALLY IN ALL ITS UNRATED HI DEFINITION GLORY…

ALEXANDER REVISITED:
The Final Cut
Loaded with 160 Minutes of Exclusive Extras
not Previously Included in the Standard Definition Release

Debuts on HD DVD and Blu Ray September 18 from WHV

Burbank, Calif., August 6, 2007 - At last, audiences can experience Oliver Stone’s Alexander as he meant it to be seen, with Warner Home Video’s high definition-debut of Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut September 18. Almost three hours of new bonus content includes an introduction by the director, an all-new documentary from Stone’s son, filmmaker Sean Stone, Fight Against Time: Oliver Stone’s Alexander, with 85 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive web-enabled features and more. The 2-Disc HD DVD and Blu-ray editions will be available for $28.99 SRP.

In this newest release of Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut, the added footage that took the film to a new level of realism and intensity will now be seen in vibrant high-definition. In Fight Against Time: Oliver Stone’s Alexander, the viewer is given a very personal and rare all-access look at Stone’s journey to make Alexander. Composer Vangelis also discusses how he relates the music and his methodology to the masterpiece.

Now restructured into two acts with an intermission, Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut takes a bolder, more in-depth look at Alexander’s (Colin Farrell) life and his relationships with his mother, Olympias (Angelina Jolie), his father Philip (Val Kilmer), his lifelong friend and battle commander Hephaistion (Jared Leto), Roxane, his ambitious and beautiful Bactrian wife (Rosario Dawson), and his trusted general and confidant Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins). The new film intensifies the beauty and unbelievable brutality of Alexander’s pre-Christian world of social customs and morals so different from today’s. The superb cast also boasts Christopher Plummer, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and many more.

Oliver Stone, one of cinema's most prolific innovators, and the recipient of three Academy Awards®, has directed such unforgettable films as Platoon, Wall Street, Born on the Fourth of July, JFK, The Doors, Natural Born Killers, Nixon, Any Given Sunday and his most recent, the moving drama World Trade Center.

I have this on DVD but haven't watched it yet. I guess I may as well hold out for the High Definition version.

Some of those suppliments sound familiar. Does anybody know if they are available on the Theatrical Cut or Director's Cut DVDs?

How long is this version?

What is the audio?

It's split over 2 discs, wouldn't fit on a HD30?

What's interesting is that they didn't put this on a BD50 for the Blu-Ray version. It will be two BD-25s. I'm sure they didn't want the BD to have the movie all on one disc because of the perception that would leave with the consumers.

I believe this "Final Cut" version includes some kind of "Intermission" etc (not 100% sure). So it´s quite natural that it´s spread to two discs. I believe the film now runs 220 min.

Sure, but if it will fit on two BD-25s, it will certainly fit on a BD-50. It's a waste of plastic. Just because it has an intermission doesn't mean it's preferred to have it on two discs is it?

When was the last time you saw a film on DVD split to two DVD-5s?
