Re: New HD rumors and conspiracy theories...
here's a couple:
the disc rot seen on some Bd titles already is proof of the untenability of the hard disc coating. Nearly every single Blu ray title will develop this rot at some point in its short life span- but only some studios will offer a replacment program.
Fox and other studios have a gentlemens agreement as far as line time goes. Given that more independant replicators are unwilling to invest in what looks to be a niche format with low yields, high start up costs, and long cycle times- it is incumbent upon Sony to invest in more lines, which they are reticent to do. Given this, the only alternative is to 'take turns'. When Fox resumes production, look for Sony to take some time off of releasing its own product.

Re: New HD rumors and conspiracy theories...
Why is it that these tongue in cheek rumors sound more reasonable and feasible as many that are passed around this forum as fact?

Re: New HD rumors and conspiracy theories...
It's finally been announced that Universals sole reason for being exclusive was to get back at Fox for a bad call in an inter-company football game.

Re: New HD rumors and conspiracy theories...
Dave Boulet no longer supports any HD format and champions SD DVDs again after moving his couch a foot closer to his TV.

Re: New HD rumors and conspiracy theories...
All major studios will only release new titles on high definition DVD to force people to upgrade from standard definition.

Actually, what was mistakenly believed to be coating rot is actually part of Sony's copy-protection and planned obsolescence program. If a Blu-ray player senses that you're trying to compromise its copy protection, it plays a special laser sequence which clouds the coating and makes the disc unplayable. Similarly, when it's ready to replace Blu-ray with a new format, Sony will activate the same laser emission pattern and destroy all the Blu-ray discs in the world.

Re: New HD rumors and conspiracy theories...
There is NO Blu-rot - it's a smear campaign started by some paid MS shills.
Once BD+ becomes entrenched Sony's masterplan will be revealed. It's actually a DIVX like pay per view application, refusing to pay or trying to circumvent the system would result in frying the circuitboards in your Blu-ray player taking your house and personal belongings with it. The results from tampering with a PS3 would be more devastating, creating an explosion equal to 1 megaton wiping out 12 city blocks.
