Shoot 'em Up - Blu-Ray release Jan 1

The John Woo-esque actioner Shoot 'em Up from New Line is slated for BD release Jan 1st (day/date w/ DVD). HD DVD version coming later in 2008 repotedly due to lack of Region coding.

A bit of old news but I just found it and I'm surprised nobody posted this (though maybe I'm not so surprised)

per Highdefdigest:

Quote:

New Line Home Entertainment is kicking off its high-def New Year with the action-fest 'Shoot 'Em Up,' which it will debut on Blu-ray January 1.
Starring Oscar nominees Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti, the crime thriller about a rogue gunman who must protect a housewife from a crazed assassin didn't do a bang up at the box office, scoring a meager domestic gross of just $12 million.
New Line will give the flick another "shot" on January 1, when it debuts the film on Blu-ray day-and-date with the standard-def DVD. (In what is becoming a familiar refrain, the studio is holding off the HD DVD release of 'Shoot 'Em Up' due to region-coding concerns, but will announce a street date for that format sometime next year.)
Tech specs have not yet been set for 'Shoot 'Em Up,' but bonus features are set to include an audio commentary with the filmmakers, the "Ballet of Bullets" documentary, deleted scenes, and the film's theatrical trailer.
MSRP for the Blu-ray version is $39.99.

More specs

The only negative for me is the DTS-MA which I can't take full advantage of.

Based on the premise and the cast this'll be a probable blind buy for me. Hell some of my favorite film were BO flops.

The Collection (Blu-Ray High Definition/DVD)

Pre-orders - BLU-RAY: Akira, The Dark Knight, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Death Proof, King Kong, La Femme Nikita, Planet Terror, Raging Bull, Ronin, The Third Man DVD: .................

It's been posted on the release schedule for a while here.

Thanks, but while I appreciate the tracking thread it doesn't point out new announcements like a devoted thread would (which is what I was referring to).

Re: Shoot 'em Up - Blu-Ray release Jan 1

I'd like to rent this one. Strangely enough, I have been unimpressed with nearly every Paul Giamatti movie I've seen. I'm hoping that changes whenever the wife and I get around to watching Sideways. Lady in the Water made we want to take my eyes out with a grapefruit spoon, but it is probably unfair to lay them blame for that travesty at Giamatti's feet. Still, it is like the food you cannot bring yourself to eat after you've thrown up. It might not be the food's fault, but the association is still there.

My apologies in advance for the weird sidetrack.

That's the reason why some members check the tracking listings daily or weekly to see if anything has been added or changed.

This film didn't exactly make a ton of money at the boxoffice, I remember the theater crowd being rather small when I watched it during it's opening weekend so it's not surprising that somebody didn't start a new thread about its HDM release.

There will be exclusive features to both versions.

New Line Home Entertainment has announced 'Shoot 'Em Up' starring Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti and Monica Bellucci will be available January 1 on Blu-ray Disc, with an HD DVD version coming at a later date. The Blu-ray version will be streeting day-and-date with the standard DVD debut.

An exciting technical spec for the Blu-ray version is the inclusion of lossless 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, in addition to 1080p high definition video. The HD DVD technical specs have yet to be released.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray Disc version will be a picture-in-picture feature with behind-the-scenes footage, similar to Warner's Interactive Movie Experience. Likewise, the later HD DVD version will include exclusive web-enabled content.

All versions of Shoot 'Em Up will include the following supplemental features:
  • Ballet of Bullets – Making Shoot ‘Em Up documentary
  • Feature length audio commentary from director and writer Michael Davis
  • Deleted scenes with commentary from director and writer Michael Davis
  • Scene animatics with commentary from director and writer Michael Davis
  • Theatrical trailer
  • Addictive TV remix trailer
  • Red Band trailer

It is when people make new threads about Galaxina and Bob Hope/Bing Crosby 'Road' movies. Besides, I don't see what the big deal is considering we have at least four Transformers threads going.

Nobody is saying that it is a big deal and don't be dissing Bob/Bing films.

OK, OK. So it's OK to diss Galaxina? Yeah, I guess it is...

I guess I wasn't sure at what you were gettting at is all. Afterall, the whole point of this forum, to me, is to discuss HDM releases. I'd be fine if we had one thread for each release. I'd just prefer it was kept to one thread per release as often as possible. In the end, it beats the format war talk I've grown so tired of every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I'll be fine with as many threads as each release requires, but I just wanted to point out that the Blu-ray and HD DVD release listings are updated daily and are available to look at for upcoming releases.
