Universal, June 4, 2007 – A full-throttle action comedy that packs as many laughs as it does punches, Hot Fuzz comes to DVD and HD DVD Combo Disc on July 31, 2007 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. From Rogue Pictures and Working Title Films, and created by the same off-the-wall team that produced the wildly successful zombie laugh-fest Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz puts a wickedly witty spin on action films. An exciting and hilarious homage to buddy cop movies, Hot Fuzz reteams Shaun of the Dead stars Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible III) and Nick Frost alongside a stellar acting ensemble that includes Oscar® winner Jim Broadbent (Bridget Jones’s Diary), Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights), Martin Freeman (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest), and Billie Whitelaw (The Omen). Director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) co-wrote with Pegg the fast-paced, uproarious script that doesn’t hold back on the thrills or chuckles. This must-own DVD will satisfy action buffs and comedy fans alike with its thrilling car chases, spectacular shoot-outs and side-splitting irreverence, plus a barrage of never-before-seen bonus features. SYNOPSIS
Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is the finest cop London has to offer. With an arrest record 400% higher than any other officer on the force, he’s so good that he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, Angel’s superiors ship him off to the sleepy and seemingly crime-free village of Sandford. Once there, he is partnered with the well-meaning but over-eager police officer Danny Butterman (Nick Frost). The son of amiable Police Chief Frank Butterman (Jim Broadbent), Danny is a huge action-movie fan and believes his new big-city partner might just be a real-life “bad boy,” giving him a chance to experience the life of gunfights and car chases he so longs for. As a series of grisly accidents rocks the village, Angel is convinced that Sandford is not what it seems. With the intrigue deepening, Danny’s dreams of explosive, high-octane, car-chasing, gun fighting, all-out action seem more and more like a reality. It’s time for these small-town cops to break out some big-city justice.

Re: Hot Fuzz Official Announcement
My son dragged me to the theater last month to see this movie, because he heard from some friends how great it was.
The first 15 -20 minutes seemed to drag on to the point where a group of people in the side isle started getting loud and commenting how boring the movie was. Finally they got up and purposely voiced that they were going to get their money back, as they walked out.
It seemed just as they left, the film started to get funny. And from that moment on, it got funnier and funnier. By the end credits, I was thinking that this was one of the best comedy's I've seen in years. Who would of thought a little patience would be so worth it.
Waiting for Amazon to activate the 10% HD discount to qualified subscribers, so I can order it!

Re: Hot Fuzz Official Announcement
My brother and I found this movie to be absolutely hilarious. Like Paul said it's a little slow at first but it does pick up the pace pretty quickly. I can't say that I'll purchase it outright as I've decided to join others in limiting/halting purchases of Combo discs, but at the very lest this will be a release day rental for me.
DVD & Blu-ray - It's all about the movies!

Re: Hot Fuzz Official Announcement
So far, my favorite film of the year. Apparently the HD-DVD is going to have more extra features, including an earlier film by Edgar Wright!

Re: Hot Fuzz Official Announcement
Hot Fuzz is absolutely brilliant. I mean this literally. Like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz demands repeat viewings in order to really catch all gags that have been seemlessly sandwiched in. Edgar has stated that in these modern times of DVD, it is absolutely crucial to give the audience a reason to go back and watch the film again and again, and so every little detail - down to backgroud imagery and even dialogue is worked on over and over so you can revisit and catch something new every time. I believe these films, along with Knocked Up, will be studied for years to come by aspiring filmmakers.
I cannot recommend this film high enough (nor Shaun of the Dead) for that matter. Edgar and Simon are truly a comedic pair for the ages. Add in the tremendous supporting cast lead by Nick Frost and you have what I believe is destined to become a cult classic (much in line with Shaun).
The HD-DVD content is simply out of this world, by the way! This, along with Shaun and Knocked Up are my favorite films of the past few years and were all my most anticipated HD-DVDs. I cannot wait for this release.
Sorry to sound like such a ridiculous fanboy, but I'm just that impressed with Edgar and Simon's work. And Judd Apatow, but this is the Hot Fuzz thread - I'll keep my Judd comments for the eventual Knocked Up thread!
Cheers,
Jason

Note 3: Don't drink said milk while watching Hot Fuzz.
OR -
Note 4: Get a nice, comfortable rag to wipe nostrils clean from the spewing of milk.
Cheers,
Jason
