Paramount & Dreamworks and the misleading Preview button in the HD Menu

ok paramount and dreamworks, yesterday i received my copy of flags of our fathers hd dvd and the disc loads up with the rather annoying hd promo clip. atleast it can be skipped. now we are in the main menu and what did i see? right, a button that says previews which implies trailers for upcoming releases (theatrical and/or video). but onces again you guys put this crappy hd promo from the beginning there (was done also on other paramount releases like tomb raider) and this is BS!

either put real previews there or just leave it out. there is no need to see this hd promo again!

Re: Paramount & Dreamworks and the misleading Preview button in the HD Menu

The same thing happened to me w/Dreamgirls. I saw 'previews' and selected it hoping to see some bd/movie trailers. But I like that it's there in the menu. However, they should give it a more accurate name. On a lot of discs where I actually want to go back and watch some of the trailers you can't select this stuff from the menus.

How about the "Press this button to see a promo for a product you've already purchased" button? For God's sake, Hollywood, promote freakin' BD and HD DVD to the people that haven't bought it yet. Duh!

I hadn't thought of it that way before. It is pretty funny.

yes, that's hilarious. As ppltd stated, I never thought of it quite this way. Putting a promo like that on a product you have already purchased really is braindead.

Even worse are the "Please don't pirate this movie that you just PAID for!" ads that have now crept into the newer HD-DVD's.

At least the geniuses at Warner seem to have finally figured this one out and have stopped putting their HD DVD promo on their HD DVDs. Put it on your regular DVDs, not on a product the viewer already obviously owns. Only took them a little over a year....

Good one. Although one could argue that it is mean to frighten would be pirates. Every time I see one of those warnings in makes me think of the Video Pirates segment from Amazon Women on the Moon: "Eeeeeew. I'm soooo scaaaared"!

Funny clip. I cannot recall the last time I saw that movie, but it brought back memories.
