Forbidden Planet - NOT SO "Well-Equipped Collector's Edition!"
I just got my Ultimate Collector's Edition tin of Forbidden Planet tonight. Despite the mailman seemingly playing soccer with the box, the tin inside arrived perfectly.
So why am I unhappy?
Despite the card back telling me about my new HD DVD edition, inside the tin is the digipak holding the bloody DVDs. Yes, its got the wrong discs inside. Now I have to send the whole damn thing back.
Did this happen to anyone else?

Man that really sucks. Thats the one drawback of buying on line!
BTW I think its amazing that you joined this forum before the internet even existed!

Yes, I've been a member of this forum a LONG time - but not that long!
Judging by the number of reads and lack of responses, it looks like I got one of those "once in a blue moon" type cock-ups here. Oh well.

Bleddyn, it probably is a shipping snafu. Hopefully they will get it corrected and ship you the right set. This is an amazing High Def release.

Yeah that would be my guess. The HD version is well worth the way though.

Re: Forbidden Planet - NOT SO "Well-Equipped Collector's Edition!"
Thomas, it wasn't a shipping snafu - the set was shrinkwrapped with the info card on the back proudly proclaiming it was the HD version. It was an error in packaging!
And yes, Jeff... "seriously disappointed" just about covers it!
Happily enough, when I took it into work to package it for return, my workmate was taken with the set enough to buy it from me, and has ordered me a replacement from DD while the sale is on! This way I don't have to bother with return and waiting for them to process it.
Your comments have me really looking forward to the HD version. I was so bummed I never even bothered to look at the SD version!

I think you will find it was well worth the wait.

Re: Forbidden Planet - NOT SO "Well-Equipped Collector's Edition!"
Gah! I just opened my HD-DVD set to reveal the DVD version. I doubt that anyone I know has even heard of Forbidden Planet, so no selling it to a chum in my case. It's back to the supplier. . .
