Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD release of Deliverance (35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) on 18th September 2007 priced at $28.99 SRP each. Directed by John Boorman (Excalibur, Hope and Glory) and adapted by James Dickey from his novel, Deliverance was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. I'll bet this one looks fantastic. I had a tape recorded off TV that looked great.
Not always pleasant, but there's something about this flick I like. It sort of the same reason I watch stuff like TCM. Backwards areas of the country can be a freaky trip.
I'll definately pick this up when I start getting HD and/or BD titles.

I've been hoping for this one, as it was one of the classics Warner gave the deluxe treatment to on SD. Add to that the fact that will most assuredly be $19.99 at Hastings, and this is a no brainer. I wonder if they got the now-Asian Burt to participate in the docs. As much as the rape scene gets joked about, this is one of the best thrillers ever made in my book.

Toshiba HD-XA2, HD Add-on, Panasonic DMP-BD10A Pioneer VSX-94TXH, Panasonic PT-AE 2000U 1080p (delivered but not mounted yet) 252 HD DVDs, 65 BD DVDs, and over 1560 - SD DVDs and going down New buying strategy - I will continue to buy Universal and Paramount HD DVD's, but if it available in both formats, Blu-ray now gets my purchase.
