Superman Returns w/Dolby TrueHD & PCM
link
Quote:
As we reported about a month ago, the new Pioneer BDP-94HD Blu-ray player will come with two packed in Blu-ray movies which feature Dolby TrueHD audio tracks (so that owners can demo this new feature of the Elite line). We have now learned that the two titles included will be 'Ghost Rider: Extended Cut' and an exclusive version of 'Superman Returns' with Dolby TrueHD and PCM tracks (the previous version only had a Dolby Digital track).

Were there ever any firm conclusions re: the vid. quality? Guess I need to rent this and see what I think of it.

Re: Superman Returns w/Dolby TrueHD & PCM
Ugh, can't the WB release Superman Returns on its own?

What vid. quality issues. The movie looks IMHO, pretty much the way it did in the theaters and recieved pretty good reviews as I recall.
BTW, I personnaly did not like the look of the film (theater or HD). It looked way to pristene and maybe the most unfilm like release of a major film I have seen to date (other than documentaries). This is one reason I don't like many of the 'imaged on video' films I view.

Re: Superman Returns w/Dolby TrueHD & PCM
I seem to recall a lot of discussion about banding or what have you mostly in underwater scenes.

I read some of those discussions on this site, but never saw them when viewing the disk myself, nor do I remember any reviewer pointing out any excessive banding issues. It seemed to surround only one scene, and IMHO, was blown way out of proportion.
But that was a while back, so my memory could be a bit faulty.
