For me it came down to availability. I can get the French version now, I have to wait for the UK version.
I can not wait to get this version, as the Lionsgate BD version did it no justice at all.
BTW, this will be the first film I own in all three formats (BD, HD and SD). Make that four, as T2 SD has a media player HD version on it if I am not mistaken. Opps, forgot the LD.

Toshiba HD-XA2, HD Add-on, Panasonic DMP-BD10A Pioneer VSX-94TXH, Panasonic PT-AE 2000U 1080p (delivered but not mounted yet) 252 HD DVDs, 65 BD DVDs, and over 1560 - SD DVDs and going down New buying strategy - I will continue to buy Universal and Paramount HD DVD's, but if it available in both formats, Blu-ray now gets my purchase.

Re: Terminator 2 HD DVD beats T2 Blu-Ray!?
Does anyone know the exact release date of the UK version? I think I'm going to wait and pick it up instead of the French 2-disc set.

Just keep in mind that with the exchange rate you could end up paying more for the UK version, not to mention that you'll lose the extra disc and have to wait longer. The UK titles at Xploted Cinema are about $4-5 more than the French ones. I don't know if this is the case with T2 or not, but it could be.

Take it back, Tim. Give the credit to Cees. He said it first.

PeterTHX will probably end up being right- sooner or later- and Lionsgate will re-visit the the title on Blu-ray with the SE version, and probably a lot more substantial extras. I have no doubt- tho I would be surprised if they felt putting out a second version just a year later would be seen as a positive thing. It might, just might, get a whole new master that truly will blow the HD DVD away.
So who knows Thomas, this might not be the last time you purchase the title.
Who needed Divx? The studios have us making pretty regular payments on some of these after all.
I don't understand why anyone would forego getting the set with 2 versions of the film , rather than only one (and likley at a higher price to boot). Is it just for the Jacket? Personally what I hate more than language difference in the copy, are those two huge honking classification symbols they have to slap on every disc. It would be ok if they could make them smaller and more discrete or stick them on the back, but they don't. And they are so big, and so graphically a-tonal to the rest of the design, it makes me feel like the the discs are being targeted at 1st graders just learning their alphabets and numbers.
