WB announces '300' for July 31st on both HD and BD

This one is on my purchase list. July is looking up.

Quote:
Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD release of 300 on 31st July 2007. The epic graphic novel by Frank Miller (Sin City) assaults the screen with the blood, thunder and awe of its ferocious visual style faithfully recreated in an intense blend of live-action and CGI animation. • 252 HD DVDs, 65 BD DVDs, and over 1560 - SD DVDs and going down
  • New buying strategy - I will continue to buy Universal and Paramount HD DVD's, but if it available in both formats, Blu-ray now gets my purchase.

AWESOME.

I was worried this was going to be a Blu Ray exclusive.

Didn't see it in the theater but I am a HUGE Frank Miller fan. Loved Sin City, even loved Daredevil although that was only loosely based on his work.

This just went tot he top of my Must own list!

Really looking forward to seeing this in HD.

Great news!

All things being equal I'll get the BD.

If the HD-DVD wasn't a combo I probably would've flipped a coin to see which version to buy.

The Collection (Blu-Ray High Definition/DVD)

Pre-orders - BLU-RAY: Akira, The Dark Knight, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Death Proof, King Kong, La Femme Nikita, Planet Terror, Raging Bull, Ronin, The Third Man DVD: .................

Actually, all things are not equal.

Quote:
Both versions will be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p and Dolby TrueHD audio. In lieu of the ongoing issues stabilizing BD-J interactivity on Blu-Ray Disc, Warner has opted to not hold back on the HDVD and include "...over 90 minutes of thrilling extras. Watch the entire film with Blue Screen Picture-in-Picture (PIP) functionality and special commentary by Zack Snyder. Also includes an exclusive HD strategy game Vengeance & Valor," while the Blu-ray Disc will include,"...90 minutes of thrilling extras including featurettes on the battle scenes, special effects, and characters" as well as a feature-length commentary with Director Zack Snyder, Writer Kurt Johnstad and Director of Photography Larry Fong in lieu of the PIP functionality found on the HD-DVD.

I will take the interactive extra's on the HD and forgo the BD version.
