Star Wars on Blu-Ray?

As you probably all heard, the unaltered Star Wars Original Trilogy will be released on DVD later this year. While surfing various SW websites following fan reaction, I found a very intriuging post on the millenniumfalcon.com messageboards:

Quote:
My sources tell me that this is in fact the BLU-RAY release, designed in part to increase BLU-RAY hardware sales. Also, think about it -- even a dual layer DVD still wouldn't be able to handle 2 versions of a film and all the animated menus Lucasfilm will make. That would mean 6 DVDs otherwise.

With the increased storage of Blu-Ray, it would make sense that multiple versions of each SW film can fit on one disc. Now whether or not this rumor is true, SW would definite give Blu-Ray an added boost over HD-DVD.

Re: Star Wars on Blu-Ray?

There will be 2-disc-sets: one DVD for the SE, one for the original as bonus material. see official posting on starwars.com. No blu-ray yet.

Re: Star Wars on Blu-Ray?

Call me clueless. You people are saying that the original versions of the first three Star Wars films are coming to DVD? Really? Together or separately? I just might be interested in purchasing the first movie in its original 1977 cut on DVD, though I've no interest in any of the other flicks.

When's this being released?

OMG Jack, you missed the thread in the HTF Software Film&Doc forum?

Now when is 2001 hitting HD-DVD again?

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him...a super-callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Gameshow host: "Is taking Viagra kosher during Passover dinner?"
Whoopee Goldberg: "Not if it leads to pork."
Kermit the Frog: "Hey, that's my line!"

Jack, the originals will be released individually, but as 2-disc sets alongside the corresponding 2004 edition. So you have to get the newer cuts in order to have the originals.

Here's the thread in HT Software:

At this point there's no need for a separate thread here.
