Do any Blu-ray players play DivX?
My currrent Sony DVD player, includes the following features:
# DivX
# DVD+R/+RW
# DVD-R/-RW
# CD-R/RW
# MP3
# JPEG
# Custom Picture Mode
# Fast Play with Audio
# Slow Play with Audio
# Child Lock (Tray Lock)
# Custom Parental Control (40 Discs)
# Multi Disc Resume (6 Disc)
# Instant Replay
# Instant Advance
...and it cost less than 100 bucks.
Do any Sony Blu-ray players have all of these features?
If I'm going to update my player, shouldn't I expect it to play Blu-ray discs PLUS everything above?
It annoys me when companies (especially Sony) only gradually add features to each successive model, instead of everything in one go. It can be a real pain.

Thanks Phil.
I had a feeling Panasonic would. I just couldn't see it on their site.
Well... Sony?

Don't believe so - don't recall seeing in the specs of the PS3 I have and it is not listed in the specs of their current Blu-Ray player:

The PS3 will do mostly all that and more.

Please explain to this non-techie what DivX is. I know you don't mean that system pushed by Circuit City a few years ago. Thanks.

It's a type of encoding/compression that was extremely popular over the last several years, especially for ripping DVDs and TV shows. It's falling behind other codecs in the HD realm, but it's still going strong for SD.

Re: Do any Blu-ray players play DivX?
PS3 supports DivX (not that I really need it, though). Here´s one (older) test:
Ps3 Divx Test: PlayStation 3 DivX Playback Tested
More info from the recent magazine article from my country (tested by Petri Teittinen/Hifimaailma.fi):
DivX, XviD, WMV9/VC-1 and AVC -video formats are supported with PS3 (both SD and HD versions). Some issues with DivX subtitles, though. There´s no "2gb limit" with DivX (at least with 40gb-model), like with some other players.
AVCHD (.m2ts) also works (Sony/Panasonic HD-videocam -format - more: Japanese giants agree HD videocam format - vnunet.com ).
AVI and MP4 also worked, but Matroska didn´t.
*
With photos, the following formats are at least supported: JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and PNG.
*
With audio, the following formats are at least supported: MP3, WMA (CBR and VBR) and ACC (only HE-ACC). PS3 doesn´t support multichannel WMA, WMA Pro or WMA Lossless.
*
PS3 also supports (ORIGINAL models):
**= PS2 compatibility and SACD support now dropped with the newer models.
--CD Disc media (read only):
PlayStation CD-ROM**
PlayStation 2 CD-ROM**
CD-DA (ROM), CD-R, CD-RW
SACD Hybrid (CD layer)**, SACD HD**
DualDisc (audio side), DualDisc (DVD side)
--DVD Disc media (read only):
PlayStation 2 DVD-ROM**
PLAYSTATION 3 DVD-ROM
DVD-Video: DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW
--Blu-ray Disc media (read only):
PLAYSTATION 3 BD-ROM
BD-Video: BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE
**
No other Blu-ray-player can´t match the list(s) above.
