AWG Question

Hi, I'm new here and have a question. I was shopping around for some generic HDMI cables for my Comcast cable box and was shopping around monoprice.com. I looked through their wide selection of HDMI cables and noticed that there were all these different types. Now, i know the difference between HDMI 1.0 and HDMI 1.3, but what does AWG mean? They show different cables with different AWG numbers, some with 22, 24, 26, and 28. I was just wondering what AWG means, how it affects the cables, and which one I should get. Thanks for all the help!

Re: AWG Question

AWG stands for "American Wire Gauge" and tells the thickness of the wire. It is a bit confusing, but the numbers go backwards: smaller number means thicker wire.

Thinner wire is more flexible, but also more prone to breaking if someone yanks on the cable. Thicker wire is generally better for longer runs.
