Denon 3800 can't do Lossless PCM over HDMI?

The "Denon DVD3800BDCI Owner's Thread" post #156 @ AVS states that:

Not good for recieving audio on the processors/receivers that only except PCM over HDMI.

Edit: Clarification - the DTS-HD HR's Lossy-core is being sent over PCM HDMI NOT DTS-HD MA's Lossless tracks, which is being sent correctly.

Not many players (maybe none) have onboard DTS MA decoding yet. It certainly isn't prohibited by the standard, as DTS demonstrates onboard decoding on their site.

It may be just a firmware issue, much as the PS3 is waiting for.

When you look at how the discs are authored, it becomes apparent that player-decoding is what the designers had in mind if you want all the features on a disc.

This should not be presented or interpreted as a negative or a shortcoming of this or any player. DTS-ES and Dolby Digital EX are both 6-channel audio in native form (5.1). The back surround channel for both formats is derived in the respective decoders. If either bitstream is decoded to PCM, the result will be the native 5.1 channel configuration with the metadata that is used by the decoders to extract a back channel stripped away.
