The "Denon DVD3800BDCI Owner's Thread" post #156 @ AVS states that:

ONLY THE LOWER QUALITY "CORE" DTS TRACK IS SENT IF THE PLAYER IS ASKED TO DECODE DTS-HD HR AND SEND PCM OVER HDMI.
|
Not good for recieving audio on the processors/receivers that only except PCM over HDMI.
Edit: Clarification - the DTS-HD HR's Lossy-core is being sent over PCM HDMI
NOT DTS-HD MA's
Lossless tracks, which is being sent correctly.

But it "punts" on the two intermediate-quality lossy formats. In the case of DD Plus, it decodes the DD (non-Plus) "independent substream". In the case of DTS-HD High Resolution, it decodes only the DTS core (as stated in the post you quoted). So far, posts on the "owner's thread" at AVS have confirmed these restrictions.

I believe that SD-DVD discs with Dolby EX will not produce the 6th channel through the analogs. I haven't tried any DTS-ES6.1 material yet.
