Re: C.C.'s Trade In HD-DVD Deal

Wow, bold move by CC, they get HD-DVD players back with firmware updated, the only question I have is what do they do with it, turn it in to Toshiba for credit or sell it as open box specials. Very interesting.

Re: C.C.'s Trade In HD-DVD Deal

They must be returning the players to Toshiba. Why would they try to get more HD DVD players for their shelves at this point?

Do they have to be bought from CC? Does the xbox add on apply?

Re: C.C.'s Trade In HD-DVD Deal

In practice not a real impressive deal. Very few will qualify and I think CC knows this.

From what I understand you have to:

a) Have bought from CC within the past 90 days
b) Have the receipt
c) Have the box (didn't cut out that UPC for the free movies did ya? Ooops)
d) Have all accessories/box contents and inserts

Doubtful many will actually qualify. Good PR for CC with little risk that many can actually take advantage of the deal.

I fail to see the point of it OTHER than PR.

Re: C.C.'s Trade In HD-DVD Deal

Hmmm. I wonder if they'll take back my Samsung 5000 (that I bought from them) and credit it toward a more functional BD player...I doubt it.

Re: C.C.'s Trade In HD-DVD Deal

Well, I bought one. I'll keep it just for the fact that it upscales standard DVDs better than my Samsung 841.

And now, with a somewhat better idea, Future Shop: Future Shop offers HD DVD trade-in
If there was something better out there than the LG and Samsung combos, I might bite, especially with the price on the Samsung, but I like my A30 way too much.
